Putting it into Practice

Pray for Yourself:

  • Your troubles
  • Your aches and pains
  • Your faith and faithfulness
  • Your courage to witness
  • Your heart's secret goals
  • Your needs, provisions
  • Your finances, funds
  • Deliverance from temptation
  • Your enemies

Pray for Your Family:

  • Each member by name and need
  • Salvation of children
  • Spouse's needs
  • Spiritual growth of each
  • Health and safety
  • Protection from evil
  • Deliverance from temptation

Pray for Your Future:

  • Your plans
  • Your goals
  • Your ministries
  • Your vision

Pray for Your Faults:

  • Your struggles
  • Your worries
  • Your temptations
  • Your wants and wishes
  • Your heartaches
  • Your failures

Share Your Burdens
We must also "bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2). No one can help you bear a burden if they don’t know what it is. Share your key burdens, worries and fears with your prayer partners, as you are able.

Discipline Yourself
There will be no time after this point in your intercession to go back to self-petitions. This is the time to lay them fully before God so as NOT to take them up again.

Dumping on God is one thing. It is quite another to dump in faith knowing that you are doing it at his invitation because "HE CARES FOR YOU." So thank him for hearing, and for being touched by your infirmities.

Sing Songs
Burdens Are Lifted At Calvary / Jesus Knows Just What I Need / No One Understands Like Jesus / What a Friend We Have in Jesus / Take Your Burden to the Lord and Leave It There / I Cast All My Cares Upon You

I am learning this lesson now in a very real and down to earth way! I have skipped this step until recently and it has hindered my prayers. Only now have I been able to return to praying for others because I have learned this step so well.

“Cast your burden on the Lord...He shall sustain you” (Psalm 55:22).

“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).
